“What are you looking for?”

 

                A simple question that opened a story I wrote as a project some 9 years ago.  Happening to come across that story may have helped me in some ways (I used it as a sample of writing, for a project that was mentioned to me), but still I must ask, what am I looking for?  The writing of this specific blog entry has been very hard in trying to tie down a subject and have it directly relate to my moving from an “aspiring writer,” to being a writer.

 

                In writing, so many different thoughts on specific subjects crossed my mind, but I could not draw the link between the goal of the blog, and those subjects…thus I’ll just list them to give them mention, and get to the subject that a friend mentioned in theory, and I had to sleep on and create my theme for this edition.

 

                Here we go, I thought of mentioning my High School reunion, and speak on renewing relationships and the such; I thought of speaking on a work I had completed as practice in 1999, and how it made me think of my “situation” at that time; I thought of mentioning my dear friend Myla Windham who passed 10/1/98 as Thursday would make it 10 years; I thought of mentioning the two manuscripts that I am working on now, and how the arbitrary naming of a character in 2006, echoes something different today in 2009; or even speak to how it is much harder to write a story based on someone else, and not myself; finally, I thought to mention how I kind of feel empty that I cannot fire up the computer and work on Blue Lines and how in some ways I feel empty that the bulk of that writing process is over.

I really can’t wrap my head around this last week.

2. The act or process of bearing young; parturition.
3. The circumstances or conditions relating to this event, as its time or location.
4. The set of characteristics or circumstances received from one’s ancestors; inheritance.
5. Origin; extraction.

 

For lack of a better term, that best describes last week.

 

Blue Lines

My manuscript that I had been working on since 1998 (see http://wp.me/pz9y7-a), the final tally of pages put it at 405 (370 abridged), was finally mailed to be shopped to be purchased / published.  As I posted last Tuesday, September 8^th:

 

“I feel sick, elated, melancholy, awkward, accomplished, lost, pained, victorious…11 years of painstaking work, memories, happiness, loss, discovery…the time is here, Blue Lines is about to be shipped off…the time is now.”

This week, the Blue Lines Blog has interviewed currently in Atlanta, photographer, poet, jack of many trades extraordinaire, my Pinoy sister Kat Goduco (www.KatGoduco.com).

KS: Describe your current showcase to the fans
KG: Sense[Ability] is a showcase depicts the 5 senses illustrated through photography. Touch, See, Smell, Hear, Taste. There will be some It was a collection done for Rise Sushi & Lounge, and is currently being displayed in the restaurant.

KS: Do you like to talk about yourself or your pictures? If yes, about what aspects of photography? If no, why?
KG:I don’t mind talking about my body of work. I’m not much for attention, but I seem to get a lot of it. When I do speak about my work, I like to talk about the concept and behind the scenes aspect of it all.

KS: How would you describe your attention span?
KG: I have a decent attention span. Enough to get the work done 

KS: When did you decide to become a photographer?
KG: The moment I realized that photography was a tool to inspire others.

Q: Describe your current showcase to the fans

Q: Do you ever have photographer’s block and if yes how do you deal with it?
KG: No, there is always an image to be taken.

Q: What types of assignments are you attracted most?
KG: People.

Q: Describe what black and white photography means to you?
KG: Black and white photography captures a real image. It brings out the strengths and you cannot hide the flaws.

Q: Do you think of yourself as an artist and what do you think of the word artist?
KG: Everybody’s an artist, information is displayed differently through each person. And artists is someone with something to say. “I live not to exist, but to express.” That’s also what I want as my first tattoo.

Q: How do you describe your photographic style?
KG: -after a brief pause, Kat’s answer was “lifestyle photojournalist.”
