As I just closed my completed first reading of Jay-Z’s Decoded I happened to be sitting outside in the same location that I wrote one of my favorite scenes in my manuscript ¬Blue Lines. Although today is overcast and chilly as it was that day some 10 to 11 years ago, today there are puddles, but it is devoid of the peaceful downpour that drenched the land about the concrete awning that covers me once again. Also, I replace myself here due to the lack of seating inside similar to that day.
Today I am simply drinking a Black Eye 2 pumps Cinnamon Dolce, 2 Pumps Vanilla, where that cool Sunday morning those years ago I almost know that it was some sort of Frappuccino and a Toffee Bar.
How do I end up here at the Starbucks on Peachtree Battle that day? I couldn’t sleep, the rain was peaceful but I knew that I could be creative that day. But my apartment was not offering me that. I showered and dressed, and noticed that my roommates door was still closed, and that this morning could be one in which I spent time honing and working on my craft and the fresh creation of a time that was very fresh and closer to my thoughts than it can be now. Well, there were no Starbucks locations on the southern side of Atlanta that I lived in, and, although this was my second choice since the Merchandise Mart location was not open on Sunday, it was the store my brother would work at during his summer’s home from Holy Cross, and I was relatively familiar with the setting.
