At the end, it always damn comes back.
Broken Messes
My smile grew dim,
I saw my demise,
What I could give then,
I’m not sure I can now,
Levity,
Intelligence,
Weariness,
It’s getting old,
She said YOU always won,
True,
She said YOU’d always win.
No,
My hope for me, I can’t share,
Our space to vast,
Our wants not the same,
Our lives, too wild,
We’ll kill each other,
Because of who we are…broken…
Destruction…
I wanted to,
I needed to,
I loved to,
I didn’t believe in YOU,
I believed in YOU,
I could with YOU,
I realized I’m destroying YOU,
YOU’re not for me,
YOU’re my Twin,
YOU’re bad for me…us,
YOU can’t love me,
YOU’d settle for me,
YOU’re destroying YOU,
YOU’re destroying me,
I’d thought we could love, but we’re broken,
I used to think we can fix,
Our
Mess
Of
Us…
Our lives intersected,
Thrice,
Does it die hear,
Do we die later on…
Do we fix?
Truth
I looked back at what I thought,
YOU looked back at what I said,
I looked at actions,
Inconsistency is what we were,
I knew I didn’t, but hoped I still could,
How do two matching pieces not fit,
Our dreams and wishes were in different places,
YOU missed,
I missed YOU,
…
…
…
Not me…
The manuscript Blue Lines is the fictional coming of age narrative of a young California woman Key Yemaya Walker, and her 2 year growing journey through school, love, and life period piece, written by Kenneth Suffern, Jr., taking place at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between the years of 1997 – 1998. Loosely based on true events, and experiences during that time, told through the eyes and voice of the main female protagonist, a freshman first attending the school.
