That’s what we seem to do.

Message I received, I finally had the opportunity to read tonight:
You are the best!! I’ll let you know as soon as I find out something. Also, I haven’t seen you in forever so I’m not picking the tickets up from will call, I’m meeting up to get them from you, lol! Can you believe it’s been like 10 years!!
Response I got when I asked my cuzz:
“Because everyone is so selfish…or self-centered…we’re all so “busy”…gotta check ourselves.

Addressing both, first when you are in contact with someone, you have no problems with each other, you actually, at the beginning, still speak on the phone (I don’t really like talking on the phone now, I’m a face to face guy), this makes no sense.

My friend who sent the message, she was…how can I say? “There.” While I wrote, I could use some of our moments (she was already betrothed, lol) and help add to the development of Keypsiia, since the “inspiration,” for my character was obviously not available or present. My first apartment was across the street from hers, we worked together at the same place, (Oh goodness, I remember the first day we met) we followed our manager there to our next job. She knew all about my manuscript, who I wrote about, the psycho, we both conned our way into interning as undergraduates (the only undergrads) in the psyche ward at Grady together. The day we interviewed and we had lunch, and sat outside until it was time for us to go to work, her basking in the sun led to my descriptions of Keypsiia in Chapter 13: Beauty In Blue And White of Blue Lines, although the book was not about her. We fought, we made up the next day. She cooked me dinner, when I was locked out of my apartment and my roommate did not come home. I put together her first computer. She was one of the two, that initially invited me to facebook (the other a Harvard grad…coincidental, lol) We had the same photographer at our respective ceremonies, yet since then we’ve kept missing each other. So when I read this message, again from my friend, we’ve missed lunches when she was back in Atlanta…now 10 years later I am working at her alma mater, and as she brought up, 10 years later, 2 children, we’ll get to meet up. We as people have to STOP wasting our experiences.

I address my cousin’s response, because we are like brother and sister, and could have been like this some time back, I’m glad we have this now.

So I briefly glimpse at this year, gotta get out of my way for this one great friend, lucky to reconnect with a friend that was disconnected for some time, but time is short…STOP WASTING IT, and GAMES, stop playing them.

I’ve said my peace!!!

The manuscript Blue Lines is the fictional coming of age narrative of a young California woman Key Yemaya Walker, and her 2 year growing journey through school, love, and life period piece, written by Kenneth Suffern, Jr., taking place at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between the years of 1997 – 1998. Loosely based on true events, and experiences during that time, told through the eyes and voice of the main female protagonist, a freshman first attending the school.
