Since I no longer have a muse, better detailed this weekend in WILS, for those reading, pay attention, and let me know whether you can figure the subject (said too much already). It’s not what you think.
It feels like more than distance between us,
I gave my time away,
My heart,
My soul,
I saw myself, not just in your face,
But there too,
Scared heart,
Needy soul,
My arms always wrapped you,
But not there when you needed me,
I shunned your heart,
I turned on your soul,
I shared my life elsewhere,
I ran to the edges of the country,
Shared heart,
Kindred soul,
But what happened when you needed it,
Did you spend the time,
Longing heart,
Pensive soul,
Where was your love,
Did you need me,
Gave away my heart,
My twin owned my soul,
Until I took you back,
Wary of the share,
My heart,
My soul,
For me to share,
I had to be fine first,
Loved my heart,
Loved my soul,
How do I close the distance between us,
How do I love “you,” with “your” heart,
It’s a heart,
It’s a soul…
In the end, I choose you,
And if I don’t, who will…
The manuscript Blue Lines is the fictional coming of age narrative of a young California woman Key Yemaya Walker, and her 2 year growing journey through school, love, and life period piece, written by Kenneth Suffern, Jr., taking place at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between the years of 1997 – 1998. Loosely based on true events, and experiences during that time, told through the eyes and voice of the main female protagonist, a freshman first attending the school.
