KS 2/17/13

Wordless night, your eyes spoke volumes,
Moments etched in the past, abstractly re-lived,
And with that it was over, a history complete,
Inspired to close the door, the ink drew dry,
No heart, no love, no future,
Once…and forever…chapter end,

Joyless eyes coupled with empty smiles,
Anticipation always ending in question,
Constant voids failing to be filled,
With our tries, truly mired as lies,
Dual ideas lacking fulfillment of inspiration,
Twice, failed yet no evidence of surprise,

Halfhearted attempt at a known end,
Love absent and friendship a true question,
A one sided affair, that missed true participants,
Finally, scarce statements of obvious truth,
That space, long since vacated,
Thrice…try…not with you.
The manuscript Blue Lines is the fictional coming of age narrative of a young California woman Key Yemaya Walker, and her 2 year growing journey through school, love, and life period piece, written by Kenneth Suffern, Jr., taking place at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between the years of 1997 – 1998. Loosely based on true events, and experiences during that time, told through the eyes and voice of the main female protagonist, a freshman first attending the school.
