I am practicing writing pieces in anticipation of the A&J Wedding this Fall. This is my first piece.
What you get is what you see,
Years seem like days as we approach our union,
Our separate lives become one,
Our different becomes the same,
Who made this choice,
We said yes…
We were joined time ago,
It took you a couple of years to catch up,
Living parallels miles apart,
Opening up to our vulnerabilities,
No longer blinded by our illusions,
But naked before our love,
This was the hardest thing to do,
Give of years of independence,
Turn my life…turn our lives to each other,
Cheating the past for our future,
The State of the Golden Empire…
I love you til the end of time.
The manuscript Blue Lines is the fictional coming of age narrative of a young California woman Key Yemaya Walker, and her 2 year growing journey through school, love, and life period piece, written by Kenneth Suffern, Jr., taking place at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between the years of 1997 – 1998. Loosely based on true events, and experiences during that time, told through the eyes and voice of the main female protagonist, a freshman first attending the school.
