During High School, there was nothing like this blending both Sade and a Hip-Hop like bassline. I used to play this on repeat.

Last night, knowing I would “see” her in concert for the first time, as a fan, I allowed my mind to wander back to one of my favorite all time song, Sade’s “Cherish The Day.”
I also thought that it was funny when my LB cousin posted about it earlier, and further helped me make the decision on this particular post.
As my friend Rick, could tell you in High School, he hate that song because of me. Granted, Love Deluxe was the first real Sade album for our generation. I love her entire catalogue, however when “we” were really somewhat cognizant of the ideas and concepts of what we thought “love,” and it’s components (read: sex) were, that was around high school.
I would play this song in repeat everywhere, in the Walkman, at home in my room as a thought. As I got older, I was able to get my hands on the remixes…discretionary income was not as accessible in high school.
I was further amazed as an adult, when I had the pleasure of hearing Joi cover the song.
Luckily, I know this will be a part of the set list tonight.

Seeing your favorite artist perform with a collection of amazing artists is great.
Seeing her perform alone again that same night, and perform one of your favorite songs is not overload…just doubly amazing.
Sometimes, music says the things, answers the questions, or just makes up for what remains unsaid.
It’s amazing to realize how similar you are to someone.
Having stalkers isn’t cool.
Helping friends is.
Sometimes people take things that were not meant for them incorrectly. It’s not all about you all the time.
I understand people are hyped the NFL football is back, but preseason games (all sports) are meaningless games where you can lose players. Continue reading →
The artist Joi Gilliam was the predecessor of your Lauryn Hill’s, Erykah Badu’s, and Jill Scott’s. She’s an amazing artist, and this may be “new to you.”
