The manuscript Blue Lines is the fictional coming of age narrative of a young California woman Key Yemaya Walker, and her 2 year growing journey through school, love, and life period piece, written by Kenneth Suffern, Jr., taking place at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between the years of 1997 – 1998. Loosely based on true events, and experiences during that time, told through the eyes and voice of the main female protagonist, a freshman first attending the school.

Being Stupid – The Perfect Cup of Coffee

If you know me, have been around me, work with me, ran into me…you know that I carry a cup of Starbucks in my hand like my phone or my wallet.
First I must thank those who fostered the habit…JJP, JRCS, ATB…even TA.

It doesn’t matter whether I’m in Dallas on a triple digit temperature day, sitting out in foggy San Francisco, in the Box Office or in the “A,” I am always with my cup of Starbucks. With that said, do you know how to make the perfect cup?

First order:
Venti Bold (preferably Komodo Dragon), Add shot
2 Pumps Cinnamon Dolce, 2 pumps Vanilla…my friend Tommy Francis got this order down the first try, I guess that comes from his background working with players.

Always keep your eye on the preparation, you don’t want your coffee to sit too long. You also want to make sure that your barista is not leaving too much room at the top of your cup. Although I just get my coffee, I’m still paying for the full cup.

Secure your top, you may think I’m kidding. The Solo tops that they use here (Atlanta), New York, Chicago, Texas, always have a tendancy to leak all over the place. Wasted coffee is a “no-no,” plus coffee on your clothes, shoes, shell toes, manuscript can just mess up a day. By the way, the lids they have in California are the best, you virtually have to turn the cup upsidedown to make them leak. Great for ill-advised drives down to L.A. from Walnut Creek and back on the same day.

Preparation:
Preferably at a fully stocked Starbucks, add a dash of Cinnamon Powder, Vanilla Powder, Chocolate Powder, and Nutmeg Powder…again a dash, anything more destroys the flavor…and comes back to get you at the bottom of the cup.
Add a few drops of Half & Half, and mix.
Replace your top securely and drink.

You are set for beautiful moments of happiness. Seriously, what goes better with a conversation, a road trip, a sit in the sun, a winter walk through Manhattan, people watching in Chicago???
