“…you ruined me, I don’t want to settle for anything else…”

A quote you will see in both major Blue Lines Blog posts this week, but I will get to that in some time.  This week was eventful that the “e-mail” that I have been vaguely mentioning very often in these posts came in 2 very different incarnations over the last 3-4 weeks.  Both transmissions, said two totally different things.  Subsequently, after learning a new type of patience, I do feel that I still have much to learn, that the 2007 – 08 version of myself would have learned much quicker, or should I say that version of myself was more grounded.

Unfortunately, the message I received was shocking, as it was unexpected, and after the work I had put in, the level of surprise was that much more intense.  While I sat bewildered, shocked, surprised, angry, annoyed, saddened and depressed for a brief time, that was a first for me (the depression), my fight or flight responses were on edge, as I had previously scheduled plans, that I had a big role in making happen, therefore I could not disappear…for an evening I had to hide in a public setting, which was both fortunate (I was not left to my own devices to possibly sulk), and unfortunate (I needed some time to clear my mind and thoughts).

Luckily I was afforded time to reflect on the entire situation the day after.  As I sat back, with the information still freshly imprinted in my mind, I thought of how I was leaving my decisions to this one piece of information.  Yes, in part I had made other choices as they pertained to this piece of information, but instead of the plan being a direction I was heading in, it was contingent on the perceived answer/outcome…between BBM messages between a good friend and I, the overriding tone of the day was “focus.”  Items that crossed my mind, “my continuing process of getting in my way,” “decisions contingent on myself,” “alignment with my goals,” Blue Lines, my future.

The manuscript Blue Lines is the fictional coming of age narrative of a young California woman Key Yemaya Walker, and her 2 year growing journey through school, love, and life period piece, written by Kenneth Suffern, Jr., taking place at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between the years of 1997 – 1998. Loosely based on true events, and experiences during that time, told through the eyes and voice of the main female protagonist, a freshman first attending the school.

Blue Lines Blog: My Blue Print Cleanse Journey Day 3 (2/20/11) Last Day

“We can all learn something else about ourselves.”

Day 3 (The Last Day):

After my long Saturday with the fam, I actually woke up, headache free this morning around 7:30.  I don’t know whether that was a good or bad thing as I laid back and wrapped my mind around getting up, preparing my hot water, lemon, and cayenne pepper to drink before my first juice.  I decided to get up, and prepped as I sat at the computer reviewing the night, and deciding whether to go on to the gym to sit in the steam this morning.  The sun was bright, thought the temperature was much lower than yesterdays near 80 degrees.

Juice 1: Green Juice

I finished off my first juice while prepping my standard Sunday blogs, and listening to the new Radiohead album The King Of Limbs.  I’m addicted to the song “Codex.”  I decided against any of the new material to make the post of “New To You Music Sundays,” since the material is very new.  I try to reserve that for obscure artists or songs, that YOU should be up on, but are not.

Juice 2: P.A.M. (Pineapple, Green Apple, Mint)

My mother had been against this cleanse the entire time, and labeled it a fad diet, not truly understanding my reasoning behind it (weight loss was not a considering factor).  I waited until she arrived for her “model shoot” she wanted me to model her new shirts for her Etsy website to sell.  I walked in with the juice to get a response from her, only for her to say, can’t you make that at home.

Juice 3: Green Juice (again)

I drank this before leaving so that she could get a late Sunday lunch…because I knew I would be sitting there watching and waiting to drink my next juice.

OK, today is the day.  Now, to start the cleanse, I had a process of phasing out solid foods over a three day period.  I could have fish for dinner Tuesday, a salad for dinner Wednesday, and vegetable broth for dinner Thursday, the night before.  Tuesday went well, and the fish portion was less than I had expected.  Wednesday, I ha a little cheat with dinner, but Thursday I was fully on in anticipation of my detox and cleanse, and the first time using Blue Print Cleanse.

Friday morning was an odd mix of fatigue, and anticipation since I had spent the night on the phone with a great friend from school that I had not spoken to in some time.

To give some background, our long phone conversations began when my “brother-from-another-mother” moved to California.  Due to the time difference I would suffer the brunt with a lack of rest because they conversations would go on, talking, debating, etc.  Oddly enough, after he went back to school in England and returned back to the states, and back home to New York…our conversations still seem to have the same time table.

Open Friday, I could drink a mix of hot water with lemon, and add cayenne pepper, if needed/wanted to start the day and hold me until my box of juices arrive.  Between working on items and reports, I made trips to see whether the FedEx truck had pulled to the front.

“no, not yet,” I thought while retreating back to my office.  I continued this exercise until I had to drop and item off, only to return to someone rumbling in my office, placing the box on the ground.

“I think it’s a phone,” she said.  “That’s what the delivery guy said he thought it was.”  I smiled, and grabbed my scissors and in haste opened the box, sliced my finger, looked at the blood, and felt to discern whether my juices were still cold.  I looked at the juice, then looked at the blood making its way to the surface of my finger.  Do I drink my first juice, or get a band aid?  I got the band aid, because if I had waited this long, a few more minutes would not make a difference.

Juice 1: Green Juice

Made of Romaine lettuce, Celery, Cucumber, Green Apple, Spinach, Kale, Parsley, and Lemon I had heard nightmare descriptions of its taste.  Granted, I had had green juices in past cleanses, another positive point that sold my on this product and had had one earlier this week, the flavor and consistency had a consistency that was not thick as other greens.  The flavor was easily palatable, and had a hint of a sweet tang, likely from the apple and lemon.  Not bad, I thought as I tried to focus on drinking my juices in an even schedule.

Blue Lines Blog – Blue Print Cleanse (I Guess It Makes Sense)

Sometimes if you want to do something, you just have to do it. Inspired by Va$htie, next week I am going to take my first Blue Print Cleanse journey!!!
http://www.blueprintcleanse.com/prepare.html

This Cleanse will gently rid your body of impurities, regain an alkaline balance and normalize digestion and metabolism. Too often, a cleanse stirs up detox symptoms that are far too intense for the “average” person. BPC is designed for people that would like to give their insides a rest while simultaneously going on about their daily lives. One needn’t gamble with extremes to feel the benefits of a Cleanse.
Prepare, prepare, prepare — we can’t stress this enough. The more prepared you are before your cleanse, the smoother your transition will be. This means: a few days leading up to your cleanse, cut down on all those delicious indulgences we love to love… phase out the coffee, the sugar, the meat and the dairy, and add fresh fruit, greens and veggies at every meal.
