“Hollow,” a song I stumbled across on Pandora some years ago when I used to use the service (before ads/commercials/limited listens) and was incorrectly titled as “My Mermaid”. Being a Tricky fan, I was surprised that I had missed this, and his Vulnerable album.. Although this was used as background music while editing Blue Lines, it is more of a fit with the unrelated manuscript Final Goodbye. Tricky collaborated with an artist Costanza Francavilla, instead of his longtime collaborator and former girlfriend Martina Topley-Bird, (featured in last week’s Music Monday post).

The manuscript Blue Lines is the fictional coming of age narrative of a young California woman Key Yemaya Walker, and her 2 year growing journey through school, love, and life period piece, written by Kenneth Suffern, Jr., taking place at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between the years of 1997 – 1998. Loosely based on true events, and experiences during that time, told through the eyes and voice of the main female protagonist, a freshman first attending the school.
