The manuscript Blue Lines is the fictional coming of age narrative of a young California woman Key Yemaya Walker, and her 2 year growing journey through school, love, and life period piece, written by Kenneth Suffern, Jr., taking place at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between the years of 1997 – 1998. “…like I said before, the fact that you’re still giving her attention…allows her to be comfortable, complacent, and able to take you for granted. She’s not going to do anything until she has to…”

This idea/story was inspired in my mind while in the car and Little Dragon’s “Stormy Weather,” began to play.

The patter of the rain drops ricocheted off of the panel windows of our hotel room. I peered over and watched your uneven respiration as the New York sky was hidden by dark clouds and torrential downpour. The sweat beads were still fresh and sparsely sat atop your long neck. Your neck of a model always mesmerized me, and still did. I gazed upon your back running into your legs, and the sweet way they all connected. We had wasted time, not experiencing this, and though the future sat behind a murky cloud, again, we couldn’t say that we had not tried. Your creamy beautiful skin, still supple and sun kissed as you recovered from what seemed longer than a couple of hours ago. I sat thinking of the things I had missed, you in my hands. The way you wrapped your arms around me, tight, unwilling to relent. I heard your sound, and finally breathed your scent.

What I Learned Sundays – Wow…Reenvisioned…Amended

Damn, let’s restart. This post initially began as “What I Learned Sundays – Yesterdays,” after Work Wifey, and my Cuzzo read it, the decision was made to pull it back. I will make special exceptions for a select few. This version has been amended also. Thus called “Reenvisioned”
20110425-015321.jpg
What did I learn? Well I had the unique opportunity to reconnect with the subject of my manuscript, Blue Lines. An experience that involved exceptional highs, and some lows, it also brought perspective and allowed her to become a “person,” and not this fictional character that she had been over the last 14 years, dating back to “When We Were Babies.”

Though a learning process, that did not bring “peace,” per se, it allowed me to see the forest for the trees, a strange journey, only because it was not “new” to me, but had never happened previously. Although, I have not yet confirmed, I think WW and I had this familiar conversation regarding a dream I had had in the past few months, and felt like déjà vu, that in the most important respects was eerily familiar.

It encompassed reconnecting with some of my recently transplanted friends, meeting new people both through my previous experience. Other than that, many details are not of import both publically, and because today is a totally different day than any last night and this weekend.

Hip-Hop Quotable Wednesday – Kanye West feat Jay-Z, RZA, Pusha-T, Swizz Beats & Cyhi Da Prince “So Appalled”

I usually go a little bit back and have more substantive choices, but there was one line that matched the seasons changing, therefore I picked this song for the 3/30/11 Hip-Hop Quotable Post.

“…I met this girl on Valentine’s Day, {@@@@} her in MAY
She found out about APRIL so she chose to MARCH…”

[Swizz Beats]
One hand in the air if you don’t really care
Two hands in the air if you don’t really care
It’s like that sometimes, I mean ridiculous
It’s like that sometimes, this s–t ridiculous

One hand in the air if you don’t really care
Middle finger in the air if you don’t really care
It’s like that sometimes, man, ridiculous
Life can be sometimes ridiculous

[Kanye West]
I’m so appalled, Spalding ball
Balding Donald Trump taking dollars from y’all
Baby you’re fired, your girlfriend hired
But if you don’t mind I’ma keep you on call

We above the law, we don’t give a f–k ’bout y’all
I got dogs that’ll chew a f–king hole through the wall
But since they all love us, I need more rubbers
And If I don’t use rubbers, need more covers

Housekeeping, I mean g–damn
One time, let it be a bad b—h sweeping
That know we get O’s like Cheerios
That know because they seen us in the videos

Being Stupid – I Really “Need” (Want) an New iPod

I love having my music on my iPod, but I quickly outgrew my 60GB’s the first year I had it (let’s not mention that the released the 80GB version for $50 less a month later). That 160GB is exactly what I need, but it is wasteful to buy another one, when my iPod works perfectly fine. I I have some emotional attachment, I used it when I would go on the road to research Blue Lines, or write in various Starbucks during my years writing or editing my manuscript.  Maybe I will give it to my friend looking for their first iPod???

The manuscript Blue Lines is the fictional coming of age narrative of a young California woman Key Yemaya Walker, and her 2 year growing journey through school, love, and life period piece, written by Kenneth Suffern, Jr., taking place at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between the years of 1997 – 1998. Blue Lines Blog – The Douche-Bagging of America (Apple Had A lot To Do With It Or Perfect It)

Today’s America is a lot different than the one I grew up in, I state as I am starting this post on an iPad (as I’ve stated before, if this was not loaned and I had to buy it…I wouldn’t be on an iPad).  Back to my opening statement, that’s not an indictment on my age hearkening back to the good old days, but rather more of a so we have this new technology and we’re more assholes because of it.

Again, I can’t blame Apple for much of it’s creation, but more or less perfecting it.  My favorite two items are my iPod, and my iPhone.

Speaking of phones, I’ll give them a pass, because the advent of the mobile phone ushered in a new era of “douchery.” think about those people who used to walk around with the phone and a battery pack in what looked like a purse…really???  Most people couldn’t use them, because the rates were astronomical, but they made sure to carry them so that the entire world knew, “I have a mobile phone.” then as phones became smaller and slightly more affordable, more and more people had access to owning phones so that they could make this call, “’Hi,’ just wanted to say ‘Hi,’ you know this is costing me money.” Great job dumb ass, you really needed to say that???  Last year you said that from your work or home phone, or you just went by to say ‘hi,’ maybe got a happy ending.  Now, you just look silly.
