Inspired by the dream I rose from this morning. I actually thought/felt the events were taking place, and was surprised to wake up with it only being a dream, and it still being the month of March.
“Vivid”
KS 3/20/12
You rested chatting with me,
Your back to me as you comfortably spoke,
My clearly wanting you here,
You silently wanting the same,
I can’t believe, this must be a dream,
You moved to me, sharing a twin bed,
Your back to me, as my breath grazed your neck,
Wrapped in me, closer here,
More clear you wanted the same,
You with me, the ultimate dream,
Awkward we navigated our small space,
Your scent fresh in my mind,
You turned to the right, as I snuck to the left,
Missing our kiss, until we turned correctly,
Your lips,
Your tongue,
Your mouth,
Your kiss,
I drew you closer,
Arms wrapping your waist and form,
A vivid sensation of your soft flesh,
Your face…close to me,
What the…I woke, eyes blurred, but still in March slumber,
There is no way that could have been a dream.
The manuscript Blue Lines is the fictional coming of age narrative of a young California woman Key Yemaya Walker, and her 2 year growing journey through school, love, and life period piece, written by Kenneth Suffern, Jr., taking place at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between the years of 1997 – 1998. Loosely based on true events, and experiences during that time, told through the eyes and voice of the main female protagonist, a freshman first attending the school.
