I remember how much this song touched me as it touched upon a touchy subject, still touchy subject, but it put a face on that subject.

Yo we gotta start respectin life more y’all
You look at your brother man you gotta see yourself
Gotta see the God within him
Brothers gettin changed real quick over nothin
We losin too many of ours
Gotta recreate y’all
Yo check it

Knowin you the best part of life do I have the right to take yours
Cause I created you irresponsibly
Subconciously knowin the act I was a part of
The start of somethin, I’m not ready to bring into the world
Had myself believin I was sterile
I look into mother’s stomach, wonder if you are a boy or a girl
Turnin this woman’s womb into a tomb
But she and I agree, a seed we don’t need
You would’ve been much more than a mouth to feed
But someone, I woulda fed this information I read Continue reading →

Blue Lines Blog – On the road, as my niece gets married

and Frou Frou, Björk, bus, Cat Power, Damien Rice, GSU Panthers, iPod, North Carolina, Raleigh

As I’m riding to the airport from Campbell University, my thoughts center on my niece making another transition in her life.

It’s funny that as the North Carolina (Blue Lines territory) countryside and farms pass by my window, songs by Bjork, Cat Power, and Frou Frou, Damien Rice play from my iPod.

I do look back, at my life in sports, and though my game may not be on the field, I wonder what I have missed. Scheduling conflicts, and the such have postponed, eliminated, or cut short my attendance at events, holidays or occasions. But, right now it is what I do, and chose to hone my craft, which I enjoy. However, this is an event I will not be able to say I attended for my family.

As pensive as this trip is, I hope, pray, and want the best for my niece and soon-to-be Husband.
Lexi girl, I love and if you ever need anything I’m here.

Aquemini…I remember the night we went to Tower Records at Around Lenox for the midnight sale. Called by some, Hip-Hop’s greatest release date Jay-Z’s Vol 2: Hard Knock Life, A Tribe Called Quests The Love Movement, Brand Nubian’s The Foundation, and Mos Def & Talib Kweli’ Black Star were also released that night.

I miss Tower Records.

Even the sun goes down heroes eventually die.
Horoscopes often lie and sometimes “y”
nothin’ is for sure nothin’ is for certain nothin’ lasts forever
But until they close the curtain
it’s him & I Aquemini

[Big Boi]
Now is the time to get on like Spike Lee said
get on the bus go get your work
and keep your beeper chirpin’ is a must
Is you on that dust or cornstarch
familiar with that smack man
The music is like that green stuff Continue reading →
