Some people get in that place in my life quicker than others, I’m still going to kick you in your head.

Today I thought I lost something,
I used all my resources, that I sometimes feel burdened with to find it, yet to no avail.
It was found, when it needed to be found.
And during that time, I had no control, because I could not find the answer I needed.

Today I thought I had a loss that changed my life,
Because the “norm” was off,
And that’s when you realize how important something is.

The manuscript Blue Lines is the fictional coming of age narrative of a young California woman Key Yemaya Walker, and her 2 year growing journey through school, love, and life period piece, written by Kenneth Suffern, Jr., taking place at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill between the years of 1997 – 1998. Loosely based on true events, and experiences during that time, told through the eyes and voice of the main female protagonist, a freshman first attending the school.

It would be easy to post about someone who you admire from afar (i.e. famous or historic figure). My photographer friend, who left her sure thing (job) to hone her craft and follow her dream. You may have seen her work publicvally in stock photo’s of the NBA, T.I. in concert, or red carpet. I’d love to go out and take that chance. I always wish her the best of success.

Frederick Douglass elected President of Freedman Bank and Trust (1857).
The Freedman’s Saving and Trust Company, popularly known as the Freedman’s Savings Bank, was a financial organization created by the U.S. government to encourage and guide the economic development of the newly-emancipated African-American communities in the post-Civil War period. Although functioning only between 1865 and 1874, the company achieved notable successes as a leading financial institution of African-Americans. Its archives are valued as an exhaustive collection of information regarding the African American community and its socio-economic life in the immediate aftermath of emancipation.
